Reverend John T. Capers

Reverend John Capers born in Georgia, raised in New York, began his relationship with Christ from childhood at Tabernacle CME Church. He faithfully served as a youth in all aspects of his duties as President of the Youth Choir, Youth Sunday School Teacher, and Conference Vice President.

Reverend Capers was the first Exhorter of Mount Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church of Hillsborough, NC, where he has been a member since 1989. He accepted His full call to the ministry and gave his initial sermon in September 2002 followed by serving as Associate Minister at Mount Zion until 2012. He has enriched the lives of many through continuous Sunday School teaching, organization of various ministries for the army of the Lord. Among his ministries have been Drugs Affect Everyone for drug and alcohol users and families of users, Feeding the Hungry, Sons of Allen Men’s Ministry and a Men & Women’s Fellowship Ministry facilitated by him and his wife. He served as Pastor of Mars Hill AME Church, Lenoir 2012 – 2014, Pastor of Elizabeth AME Church, Liberty 2014 - 2018. Reverend Capers holds an Automotive Technician Associate Degree from Durham Technical Community College, Bachelor of Arts in Religion and Philosophy from Shaw University and a Masters in Divinity Degree from Shaw Divinity School. Presently, he is pursuing a Doctor of Ministry Degree from Hosanna Bible College. Reverend

Capers is known as “The Preaching Technician.” Above all he holds a B.A. - Born Again Degree from the Lord.

Reverend Capers is a true witness as to what God can do. He also holds personal roles as husband to his devoted wife, Candice Capers; father of 7, grandfather of 20, great grandfather of 3 and is an all around family man.

Reverend Capers’ favorite scripture is Isaiah 61:1.
