First Bangladeshi Manga : KINSA KHYONG
"Kinsa Khyong" is Bangladesh's first official manga [Japanese style comic] which was published on monthly juvenile magazine the "Kishore Alo" on October edition 2016 . The story is based on a Bangladeshi legend and the artwork was inspired by the Japanese manga and anime artwork.
The manga was created by Shahrina Shantuma [character designer] & Shahnuruma Shantona [background designer and story writer]
Their other manga : Bashap, Locker er Chithi, Shikar, Protik , Mendel, Oyindrojalik, Creativity man, Chirobhashomaan, Ram Sagar ect.
Synopsis:
It is a tragic romantic story about the legend of the name of the Bangladeshi river "Karnaphuli [Flower tucked in her ear] which is situated near Chittagong . It says once an Arakanese princess fell in love with a tribal prince of Chittagong .They loved each other so they were committed to stay together forever and as a symbol of their love the prince tucked a flower in princess ear . On a moonlit night the prince and the princess went on a course in Kinsa Khyong river . While enjoying their boat ride admiring the reflection of the moon dancing on the ripple water surface ,the boat inclined slightly and the flower tucked in her ear fell into the river .The princess was grief-stricken at losing the flower which she held very dear as a present from her beloved prince .She tried to retrieve the flower but failed. She was drowned in the river instead .The prince tried to rescue the princess but in vain .Out of sorrow he drowned himself in the river to unite with the princess after death once again.
The name of the Kinsa Khyong river came from this legend as now we know the river as "Karnaphuli" means "Flower tucked in her ear" .
