Welcome

Welcome to my homepage!

I am Professor of Political Science at the Department of Social and Political Sciences of the University of Bologna.

I got a laurea (BA) from the faculty of Political Sciences “Cesare Alfieri” of the University of Florence, and a PhD in Comparative and European Politics from the University of Siena. I have been postdoctoral fellow at the Centre for the Study of Political Change (CIRCaP) of the same university from 2004 to 2006.

I have been a visiting scholar at the Centre de Politique Comparée, Université Catholique de Louvain (Belgium), at the Center for the Study of Democracy, University of California, Irvine and at the Centro de Estudios Avanzados en Ciencias Sociales, Fundación Juan March, Madrid.

I am a member of the scientific committee and a regular collaborator of the Istituto Carlo Cattaneo. Between 2019 and 2022 I have proudly co-edited (with Martin Bull) the Italian Political Science Review, the flagship journal of the Italian political science community.

My field of study is comparative politics. Most of my research has focused on territorial politics, political parties, elections, political elites.

Among my recent publications: Beppe Grillo's Five Star Movement: Organisation, Communication and Ideology (Routledge) and Politica in Italia, edizione 2018 (Il Mulino).

You can find my official web page at the Università di Bologna, and my publication profile on Google Scholar. From time to time, I am alive on twitter and mastodon.
