Sports injuries & rehabilitation
You have injured yourself and cannot take PE. Now what?
You will spend your PE class time researching your injury, and learning about how the injury can be rehabilitated. Please read below for what is required in your assignment.
** This is a research assignment ONLY. Do not engage in any kind of rehabilitation unless directed by your health practitioner.
What do you need to do?
Describe (in detail) how you injured yourself.
2) Research and describe what kind of injury has occurred. Make sure you address whether your injury is:
o Acute or Chronic (define these terms)
o Soft Tissue or Hard Tissue (define these terms)
o The specific names of the tissues involved
o The damage that has occurred to the tissue
o Pictures and diagrams of the anatomy of your injury
3) Research and describe what a rehabilitation program would be used for your injury. This will include things like:
o Recommendations from your doctor, physiotherapist, or chiropractor.
o Modified workout plans for PE
o Rest/Recovery timeframes
4) Reference all of your information. Make sure your information comes from credible sources.
Format:
You may do this assignment using an online tool (PowerPoint, Prezi, Blog) or you can hand in a hard copy like a Word Document.
· This assignment is making up for the marks that you are missing by not participating in PE. This means that the amount of research and detail should reflect the amount of time you are being given. Hint: you need paragraphs and pages of information and not simple sentences.
