Activity 1:
Locating Areas of the FH Library Learning Commons
Part 1: Find the locations/objects on the list. At each location, take a #shelfie with your partner. YOu will only be taking 11 selfies!
Selfie: Where you go to charge your phone (there is a special place with lots of cords it's not just a random plug in the wall)
Selfie: Where the (older) Surrey Teens Read books are. Hint: It's not on the table.
Selfies: Where you return books (2 different places-one is outside the library)
Selfie: Find the entrance to the Career center Office
Selfie: Find the sticky note window display question. Add one if you can! Hint-it's near the careers office
Selfie: Where you go to check out your books (hint look for pink!)
Selfie: Where the graphic novels are
Where the library cat is (it’s not real)-and write down it's name
Selfie: Where Ms. P-J gives presentations (or you?)
Selfie: Where is the student supply center (where you can borrow pens/pencils/rulers etc) and printer?
Part 2: Write down the answers to the questions
Find the 10 fiction genres (ex. romance) and write them down! Hint: the signs are everywhere!
There are 3 non-fiction areas in the library
a. Find the Indigenous People's collection (hint- it's turquoise) and write down two genres they have
b. Find the non-fiction genres next to the IPC collection and write down all six (hint-you'll have to crouch down to see two of them –by the read label on the wall). The others are under the "access" sign and under the "evaluate" sign (look up)
C. Find the non-fiction section against the wall that still uses the Dewey Decimal system (numbers on the spine label). Write down 3 categories that exist there. They don't have pretty stickers on them-just numbers!
Where is the Manga?
Find the message box on my desk (it's next to the rainbow): What is its message?
Check out the display on the outside of the library. What is it? (It always changes and it has to do with BOOKS)
Where are students allowed to play video games? Describe
Check out some of the other fun things we have to do around the library ; colouring, puzzles, piano etc.
