Today you will find out more about both our physical and our virtual Library Learning Commons! Working in groups of 2 or 3, you will complete the following activities. You can complete them in any order. You will take a selfie/shelfie some of the activities and/or at some of the location to show you completed it, as well as fill out a few questions on the physical handout. The first group to correctly answer all the questions and show me all their selfies wins! Ready, Set, Go!

Find the locations/objects on the list. At each location, take a #shelfie with your partner AND/OR answer the questions on your sheet.

- Selfie: Where you go to charge your phone (there is a special place with lots of cords it's not just a random plug in the wall)
- Find the 10 fiction genres (ex. romance) and list them. Hint: the signs are everywhere!
- There are 3 non-fiction areas in the library
a. Find the Indigenous People's collection and write down two genres they have
b. Find the non-fiction genres next to the IPC collection and write down all six (hint-you'll have to crouch down to see two of them)
C. Find the non-fiction section against the wall that still uses the Dewey Decimal system (numbers on the spine label). Write down 3 categories that exist there.
- Selfie: Where the (older) Surrey Teens Read books are. Hint: It's not on the table.
Where is the Manga? What other genre is there?
- Selfies: Where you return books (2 different places-one is outside the library)
Find the light message box on my desk: What is its message?
- Selfie: Find the entrance to the Career center Office
- Selfie: Find the sticky note window display question
- Check out the display on the outside of the library. What is it? (It always changes and it has to do with BOOKS)
- Selfie: Where you go to check out your books
- Selfie: Where the graphic novels are
- Our library cat. What's its name?
- Selfie: Where Ms. P-J gives presentations (or you?)
Find the poster with the QR code to request books! Take a shelfie with it.

- On this website, go back to the home page. Scroll down until you see Fraser Heights Library Catalogue
- Choose Fraser Heights from the list of secondary schools, DON"T LOG IN!!!! and then click on the catalogue button on the top left
Use the on-line catalog to find one non-fiction book per topic and write down their Dewey Decimal number
