Collect applications (available on the FGCM Website) for Blue Bird Trails or bird sanctuaries which are due to district July 1 and due to FGCM July 15. Butterfly & Hummingbird Gardens, which are due to district Oct. 1 and forward them to the State chairs in each category by Oct. 10. After State chair judges the applications these are returned to the District Chairman who will send them back to the club member who entered them with a certificate, if this is awarded.

· Documents and photos from State Conventions
· Take photos at all District functions either personally or assign to someone else

Promotes the annual poster contest for grades 1-5 and special education students promoting: Smokey Bear/Woodsy Owl conservation practices. They must be promoted by a local garden club and must be based on and include Smokey’s fire prevention message.

Keeps the district informed about the activities and projects of the new horticulture center. Donations from clubs in the district are sent in to the State Treasurer. Connie will then disburse funds to the Botanical Center.
STATE FAIR/CONVENTION PROJECT - EDUCATIONAL EXHIBIT:
BRENTWOOD GARDEN CLUB
Researches and prepares a poster-like presentation on the subject assigned by the State President to each District. This presentation is displayed at the State Convention for the District. Then it is taken to the State Fair in August as an Educational Exhibit to and from the fair with the District Director. The subject for this year for SW District, in keeping with the State President’s theme of “A Force for Good”.

This chair takes care of the Ways and Means table at the district meetings in the spring and fall. When the invitation goes out for these two meetings, a request for white elephant items, books, garden and home décor, baked goods, plants, etc. goes out also. These are brought to the meeting and arranged by this chair for sale to the attendees.
WILDFLOWERS:
This chair works within the district to promote the preservation and enhancement of native plantings by clubs. Spread info to the club members on natives and wildflowers at the spring and fall meetings and through club presidents. Reports on the clubs within the district’s activity in these areas. See pg.100 in the club manual.
