Luís Miguel Mendes Fernandes, born in Leiria, Portugal, 1980. Lives in Coimbra, Portugal.
He has superior degrees in Painting and Visual Arts at Superior School of Art and Design, Caldas da Rainha and a master in Teaching of Visual Arts at Beira Interior University, Portugal.
In addition to his work as a Visual Artist, Fernandes is also a teacher of Visual Arts, he also has professional experiences in other areas, such as Design and Scenography, which gives him a broad aesthetics that enhances his work.
The artistic creation of Luís Miguel Fernandes it is done mostly through personal experiences. The draw has quite a biographical character. It develops in several techniques. Fernandes likes to experiment and explore, but he always returns to his roots of Drawing and Painting, whether technically or conceptually.
In his work it can be found references from distinct periods in art history, in a reinterpretation of art works and composing his work around the artistic knowledge. Cinema is also an inspiration to the artist, reviewing the directors frames and appropriate them through drawing or painting. The actuality, personalities that influence the world or the artist are also themes of his work.
He is constantly exposing his work on the web, through specialized platforms or at his own website. Currently, he is developing his work though publishing.

Luís Miguel Mendes Fernandes, nasceu em Leiria, Portugal, em 1980. Actualmente vive em Coimbra.
Tem bacharelato e licenciatura em Artes Plásticas pela Escola Superior de Artes e Design das Caldas da Rainha e mestrado em Ensino das Artes Visuais, pela Universidade da Beira Interior.
Além de Artista Plástico trabalha como professor de Artes Visuais, conta também com experiências profissionais noutras áreas das artes e da cultura, como o Design Gráfico e a Cenografia. Tem assim uma visão estética polivalente que enriquece o trabalho apresentado.
A criação artística de Luís Miguel Fernandes é feita sobretudo através de experiências pessoais. O desenho tem assim assim um carácter bastante autobiográfico. Desenrola-se em diversas técnicas, gosta de experimentar e explorar, mas regressa sempre às suas bases do Desenho e da Pintura, seja técnica ou conceptualmente.
No seu trabalho encontram-se referências de vários períodos da história de arte, reinterpretando as obras e compondo o seu trabalho à volta do conhecimento artístico. O cinema é também uma fonte de inspiração, revendo os planos dos realizadores e tornando-os seus. Os temas da actualidade, personalidades marcantes que influenciam o artista e o mundo são também temas recorrentes.
Tem exposto o seu trabalho de forma constante na Internet, através de plataformas especializadas e no site pessoal. Actualmente encontra-se a desenvolver o seu trabalho sob forma de publicações.
