Disrupting class is a serious violation of University of Houston rules and regulations. The purpose of these class rules is to eliminate activities that are disruptive to academic process. Most students view these as a common courtesy towards instructor and fellow students. Failure to comply with a class rule will be viewed as a Disruption to the Academic Process. The penalty for classroom misbehavior is clearly outlined in the student handbook. (It is imperative that students understand these rules.) Below are some of the class rules:
Treat the instructor, teaching assistant, grader, and fellow students with respect.
Put the cell phones on silent. Cell phones should not be answered inside the classroom.
Texting is not allowed during the proceeding of the class.
No reading newspapers, magazines or solving crossword puzzles, etc during lecture.
No disruptive talking during lectures (except for questions to the instructor).
No checking of e-mail or internet surfing in the class.
No use of portable electronic music devices (mp3 players, ipods, etc).
No use of laptops without the approval of the instructor.
