I am an Assistant Professor in the Vancouver School of Economics at the University of British Columbia, in Canada. Before joining the VSE I worked at the Department of Economics and the Macrohistory Lab at Bonn University. I am also a Research Affiliate of IZA.
My primary research interests are in Development Economics, Economic History and Economic Growth.
I obtained my Ph.D. in Economics from Universitat Pompeu Fabra in 2015 through the European Doctoral Programme. My dissertation on long-term Economic Persistence was awarded the Enrique Fuentes Quintana prize for best thesis in the Social Sciences in Spain.
