I am an Assistant Professor in the Vancouver School of Economics at the University of British Columbia, in Canada. I am also a Research Affiliate of IZA, a member of the Board of Directors of the Association for the Study of Religion, Economics and Culture (ASREC) and part of the Editorial Board of the Economic History of Developing Regions journal.
My primary research interests are in Development Economics, Economic History and Economic Growth.
I obtained my Ph.D. in Economics from Universitat Pompeu Fabra in 2015 through the European Doctoral Programme. My dissertation on long-term Economic Persistence was awarded the Enrique Fuentes Quintana prize for best thesis in the Social Sciences in Spain. Before joining the VSE I worked at the Department of Economics and the Macrohistory Lab at Bonn University.
