THE "FEH" APPROACH

FEH aims to be pragmatic and eclectic in its approach to combating the 'Herskovites'. We support and applaud other related efforts in the community ... e.g. the dignified non-engagement of the synagogue, and the symbolic 'sign onto a website/light a candle' approach of the interfaith group Worship Without Harassment. But we believe other approaches, short of physical violence or illegality, can and should be employed too, and are justified both morally and tactically in this instance. For any NYPD Blue watchers, both Sipowitz and his more genteel colleagues were required to get the job done.

One, but far from the only, approach FEH is taking is to use pointed mockery...ala Jon Stewart, Al Franken et al. in various formats toward the Herskovites, whose own bizarre actions, and utterances well warrant such.

For students of logic, we are well aware that "ad hominem", personalized attacks on a given message are not an ideal, first strategy, form of argumentation. We also clearly recognize that the Middle East conflict is a topic fraught with legitimate areas for informed debate between people with divergent views. Indeed many of us are already engaged in such discussions.

However, the Herskovites, by their flagrantly uncivil tactics and informationally distorted arguments, have utterly disqualified themselves as partners in such debate and thereby more than made themselves fair targets for our approach to them. One of which is our anti-BIGot signs (BIG: Herskovite acronym for Boycott Israeli Goods). Another involves the wearing of YOUR "FEH" T- SHIRT as a practical way of expressing your opinion of the Herskovites.
