Félix Goyache was born in Pamplona (Navarra), Spain, in 1963. He obtained the degree in Veterinary Sciences in 1985 at the University Complutense of Madrid. At this University he obtained PhD degree under the supervision of his friend Prof. Dr Juan Pablo Gutíérrez with whom continues working at present. He has developed most of his career as Responsible for Animal Breeding and Genetics in the Area of Genetics and Animal Reproduction of SERIDA (Asturias, Spain) with the kind collaboration of Dr Isabel Álvarez and Mr Iván Fernández. His wide professional interests fall on the characterization of animal populations using quantitative, molecular, and genealogical information and the conservation of animal genetic resources. Albano Beja -Pereira acquainted him with domestication and phylogeography. He also aimed at the application of Machine Learning techniques to animal breeding with the guidance of Prof. Antonio Bahamonde. He assisted Juan Pablo during the development of freely available programs for the analysis of genealogical (ENDOG) or molecular (MolKin) information. Since 2000 he has published more than 130 scientific papers in international journals (http://www.researcherid.com/rid/B-7764-2009) and acted as a reviewer for more than 50 international journals. In June 2011, he joined the journal Livestock Science as an editor for the section «Genetics, Animal Genetic Resources and Breeding» and since August 2018 he is Editor-in-Chief of this journal. He is part of the panel of experts for the evaluation of scientific proposals of seven National Spanish and International scientific agencies and has contributed to the development of a significant amount of scientific projects.
