MEET THE COACH

Pam Connolly

When Pam's final season of college soccer ended, she yearned for something to do that would give her the same mental and physical feeling as soccer did. Enter running, and she hasn't slowed down since. That was about 24 years ago. What started out as a 5k here and there quickly turned into a marathon after signing up for the marathon training course at UNI in 1993. For the next 13 years, Pam ran about 10 races per year ranging from the 5k to to the 1/2 marathon. In 2006, Pam caught the marathon bug again. Little did she know at that time that she would soon be traveling greater distances to run in other marathons, including Boston, New York, and Denver. A few years ago Pam added triathlons to her list, ran her first 50k, as well as an urbanathalon, which involves an obstacle course. Last year, she added 2 races involving pushing individuals with special needs. She loves all of the different ways communities work to bring people together through the spirit of racing, whether competing, spectating, or contributing to one's favorite charity. Future goals include helping the youth of our community meet their running goals and an international marathon.
