Filip (Philip) Ganz was born in 1881 in Rumno Galicia Austrian Empire now western Ukraine.
His father was Karl Ganz and Catherina Sauter, both German colonists that lived in Galicia for generations.
Filip was brother of Peter Ganz
On 28 Oct 1905 Filip arrived in New York and settled in Yonkers, NY at 71 Prescott St. and worked in carpet mill (most likely on Nepperhan Ave).
He married Antonina Holovyak (b1885, d 1961) also Ukrainian or Lemko speaking émigré from Austrian Empire.
They have eight children (see chart). One of the children, Stephen b1914, died at a very young age in a fire around 1916 (in Yonkers?).
Sometime after 1920 Philip and his family moved to New Jersey where he worked in Botany Mills (manfacturer of men's clothing) in Passaic,NJ.
He was also a very good carpenter, trade that he learned in the old country (see Ellis Island Record).
