I am an applied economist with interests in health and labor economics. I am currently Associated Professor in Economics at the Faculty of Economics of Università della Svizzera Italiana (USI) in Lugano where I also serve as the director of Center for Economic and Political research on aging (CEPRA).
I obtain my PhD in Econometrics in 2011 from University or Rome Tor Vergata. In 2010, I have been visiting researcher at University College of London (UCL).
I am research fellow of IZA (Institute of Labor Economics), of the Swiss School of Public Health (SSPH+) and of the Munich Center of Economics of Ageing (MEA) at the Max Planck Institute in Munich where I worked as Senior Researcher (Post-Doc) in 2011 and 2012.
From 2015 to 2019, I was the scientific director of the Lugano SSPH+ Summer School in Public Health Policy, Economics and Management that takes place every year at the end of August.
I am a founding and board member of the Swiss Society of Health Economics (sggö) which runs the SSPH+ International Doctoral Courses in Health Economics and Policy.
In June 2017, I organized the first CEPRA-NBER Workshop on Aging and Health joint with Massimo Filippini (USI and ETH Zurich) and Jonathan Skinner (Darmouth College and NBER). This workshop takes place in Lugano every two years (next edition 2021).
