I am an applied economist with interests in health and labor economics. I am currently Associated Professor in Economics at the Faculty of Economics of Università della Svizzera Italiana (USI) in Lugano where I also serve as the director of Center for Economic and Political research on aging (CEPRA).
I obtain my PhD in Econometrics in 2011 from University or Rome Tor Vergata. During my PhD I spent 6 months as visiting researcher at University College of London (UCL).
I am also fellow of the Swiss School of Public Health (SSPH+) and of the Munich Center of Economics of Ageing (MEA) at the Max Planck Institute in Munich where I worked as Senior Researcher (Post-Doc) in 2011 and 2012.
Since September 2014 I have been the scientific director of the SSPH+ Summer School in Public Health Policy, Economics and Management that takes place every year in August in Lugano. I am one of the founding members and secretary of the Swiss Society of Health Economics (sggö) which runs the SSPH+ International Doctoral Courses in Health Economics and Policy.
In June 2017, I was the scientific and local organizer of the first CEPRA-NBER Workshop on Aging and Health joint with Massimo Filippino (USI and ETH Zurich) and Jonathan Skinner (Darmouth College and NBER). This workshop will take place in Lugano every two years (next edition 2019).
