• MBBS degree in 1986 and Masters in Ophthalmology from JIPMER Pondicherry in 1989 winning the University Gold Medal in M.S. Ophthalmology.

• During MBBS won two Madras University Gold Medals for topping the University in Medicine and Surgery.

• Joined Venu Eye Institute as Senior Registrar and went on to become Junior Consultant. Subsequently left India to join Help-Age International of U.K to undertake Eye Care work in Africa – on a short 6 month assignment which saw the beginning of a 12 year career in International Ophthalmology involving work with renowned Eye Care agencies like Sight Savers International of U.K and finally came to an end with ORBIS International of New York for which I worked as the Training Specialist on the world’s only flying eye hospital just prior to returning back to India for good.

• During the 12 years career abroad – established many eye care programs, trained numerous doctors and eye care workers besides carrying out more than ten thousand cataract surgeries in different parts of the world – being one of the pioneers of IOL Surgery and Phaco-emulsification in Africa.

• Alongside my work, I obtained a Distinction from London University in NGO Management in 2001

• In recognition of my eye care work, I was nominated as an International Member of American Academy of Ophthalmologists in 1996 by the then vice-president of the International Association for Prevention of Blindness (IAPB)

• My main speciality interests are – Phacoemulsification, Refractive Corneal Surgery (Lasik and C-Lasik), Small incision Cataract Surgery, Glaucoma Surgery and Paediatric Ophthalmology.
