Eleanor Wiske Dillon

I am a Principal Economist in the Economics and Computation group at Microsoft Research. My research is in labor and personnel economics, with a focus on the impact of new technologies on the future of work and the economy. My research explores how individuals, policy makers, and employers make decisions about investing in skill development in the face of rapid technological change and how workers learn and move through jobs over their careers. I also lead the ALICE team, which leverages machine learning methods to improve causal inference.

I received my bachelor’s degree in economics from Columbia University and my Ph.D. in economics from the University of Michigan. Prior to joining Microsoft, I was an assistant professor at Arizona State University and visited at Harvard Business School and Amherst College.
