Match Information
The home team is responsible to make contact with the visitor and coordinate a match date and time.
Each club “presents” 8 players (written on a scoresheet available on the website), and, optionally, substitutes as described below.
The 8 players are separated into four 2-player teams.
Substitutions are allowed subject to the following conditions:
Men’s and Women’s Doubles: Only 1 sub is allowed per match.
Mixed Doubles: 1 male and 1 female sub is allowed per match.
The players available as subs shall be named in advance of the match as part of the line up.
The substitution may only be for 1 player and is permanent for the remainder of the match.
A player playing that day may not be used as a sub.
The substitution/replacement of a player must be from an injury sustained during play at the match.
The need for the substitution must be approved by the opposing captain before the change is made.
Bringing a sub is not mandatory.
Each team of one club will play four match-ups, playing each of the 4 teams from the opposing club. (i.e. a round robin format).
Each player retains the same partner throughout all the match-ups.
-Coaching is allowed during the game but not while the point is being played. Captains should limit
their coaching to their team exercising good sportsmanship and not pointing out flaws with the
opponent players.
-First server identification is required. (typically wristbands).
Home team supplies the balls.
In the Men's Leagues, each of the match-ups played will be one game to 21 (switch sides at 11, win by 1). The winning team will receive 2 points. The losing team will receive either 0 or 1 point. If the losing team scores at least 11 pts in the game (i.e. loses 21-11 or higher) the losing team will receive 1 point.
In the Women's and Mixed League, each of the match-ups played will be one game to 15 (switch sides at 8, win by 2). The winning team will receive 2 points. The losing team will receive either 0 or 1 point. If the losing team scores at least 8 pts in the game (i.e. loses 15-8 or higher) the losing team will receive 1 point.
The club with the highest total points is the winner.
The home team is responsible to email the final score to the league commissioner (currently Greg Mather: glmather@cox.net).
Total points won will be tracked by the commissioner and determine the team standings. Standings and scores will be updated and published throughout the season. In case of a tie in the final standing (points won are equal) the team with the most points won head-to-head will be the winner.(If there is still a tie in the head-to-head points, both teams will enter the Thunderdome to determine a winner.)
Trophies and/or plaques will be awarded to the winning teams at the season-end pizza/awards party. The Jerry Green memorial trophies will reside at the winning club’s facility until the next season ends.
