EverGreen Ukulele Club
We are a Ukulele club serving Seniors (55 plus) in Courtenay, Comox, and surrounding areas on Vancouver Island in British Columbia. We meet from 330 pm to 5 pm on the second and fourth Tuesday of each Month, at the Filberg center in Courtenay.
Visitors are most welcome to drop by. If you decide you wish to join the club, you will require an Evergreen Seniors club membership at the Courtenay recreation center (250 338-1000) and there is a $2.00 drop in fee at each meet. We try to stick to 'easy' songs with a few challenging ones thrown in. We project the songs to a screen so no books or stands are required and printouts are unnecessary unless for your personal use. There is usually a spare uke available for use at the meeting.
OUR MISSION:
To offer a place for ukulele players of all skill levels to sing and strumalong with like-minded souls and to keep the music reasonably simple so that newcomers can feel welcome. Unless the purpose is to educate, or for occasional entertainment, we avoid solo acts or hot-dogging. We don't strive to be a performance-oriented group rather we prefer a fun campfire singalong style in the spirit of Kanikapila.
Kanikapila: to gather together to sing and play music
Rules of the Game:
Relax ..... sit back .... enjoy!
Ukuleles only
banjo-ukes or banjoleles sit in the back row (they can be loud)
no amplified instruments (with exception for electric basses) and possibly lead person
