against any member violating these rules. Fines and or

Anyone asked to show their membership card shall graciously do
so without argument. This range will be used only by Izaak
Walton members and their guest. Non-members will not be
allowed to use this range unless accompanied by a member.
1.4 In order for members to acquire permission to use the range
they must sign the range rule document saying that they have
read all of the range instructions/rules and promise to abide by
them. This document will be filed in Izaak Walton files for future
reference.
1.5 One member may escort two non-members to the shooting
range. This means that one member can only be responsible for
two more people.
1.6 The combination to the range lock will change every year. The
lock combination is privileged information for the members.
Never give lock combination out. Never leave the lock with the
tumblers set on the combination. Protect our property from nonmembers
and trespassers.

their membership card. It they do not offer to show their
card, leave the gate locked and let them unlock if for
themselves.
1.8 All members of the club shall conduct themselves in a cordial or
business-like manner, practicing good sportsmanship at all
times, while doing the business of the club or using the range.
1.9 Shooting hours on the rifle and pistol range will begin at 8:00 AM
and close at sun down.
2.0 Range Rules
2.1 The rifle range is for long range weapons but not for 50 caliber
BMG or true auto weapons. Bump firing is prohibited. This
is a target range and bump firing and full automatic are strictly
forbidden. No explosive ammunition rounds, explosive targets or
tracer ammunition will be allowed. Fire arm safety must be
practiced first and at all times. This is your range so please take
care, be safe and have fun.
2.2 The pistol range shall be conducted from behind the established
firing line. No full auto, bump firing or 50 cal. BMG shall be
allowed on the pistol range. There shall be no explosive targets,
explosive ammunition or tracer bullets allowed. Firearm safety
must be practiced at all times on the pistol range. Remember,
tracer bullets can cause fires. All other legal guns will be
permitted on the range. No cross holster drawing or fast drawing
will be allowed.
2.3 Weapon sight alignment of center fire rifles, black powder rifles
and shot guns shooting slugs may be performed on the pistol
range. This will include shot guns patterning lead or steel shot.
2.4 All targets will be made of biodegradable paper and wood. Izaak
Walton will not allow any land fill items such as glass bottles,
aluminum cans, plastic bottles, TV's or refrigerators. Steel
rotating targets or any other steel targets will not be used on the
pistol or rifle range. No clay bird shooting will take place on the
rifle or pistol ranges at any time. Please help keep our ranges
clean and presentable.
2.5 The safety and protection of all members and guests is in your
hands while on the range. The following rules will help you in
keeping everyone safe.
2.5.1 Always keep your muzzle pointed in a safe direction.
2.5.2 Always keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready
to shoot.
2.5.3 Always keep the firearm unloaded until you are ready to
shoot.
2.6 The range command "THE RANGE IS HOT", means that shooting
may commence. The first person ready to begin shooting should
use this command and allow other people on the firing line time
to replace their safety equipment, before firing a shot.
2.7 The range command "CLEAR" means that you want to make it
safe to go down range. You must make eye contact with every
person on the firing line and get back from them the signal
lear", before anyone goes down range. Before you give
anyone a "clear" signal, all your firearms must be unloaded, the
actions opened and the magazines out. You are not obligated to
stop firing immediately. You may finish your string of shot:
however you are obligated to answer the call by responding, "NO
NOT CLEAR, WAIT".
2.8 The range command "CEASE FIRING", is a command for all
shooting to stop immediately signifying that an emergency or
dangerous situation has occurred.
2.9 During a formal competition, follow the commands of the range
officer or match director. They will be explained at the match.
The commands usually are: "Commence firing", or as instructed
at the match. You are expected to respond if you are not ready.
2.10 A club range officer has the complete charge of the shooting
ranges, scheduling and safety.
2.11 Formal shooting events must have a range officer for that event.
Your cooperation with that person is expected. Regardless, never
commit an act that you believe is unsafe. Your choice is to
Discuss the matter with the event range officer and not
participate in the event. In the event range officer fails to correct
an unsafe condition, you may contact the caretaker or a board
member as soon as possible.
2.12 Place all targets down range straight in front of your firing
position, to insure the bullet path is straight down range. Do not
intentionally shoot over the berms (the dirt banks that separate
the ranges and the ones that you shoot into).
3.0 Safety Rules
3.1 If another member addresses you regarding a safety matter,
listen to their concerns, discuss it with them, thank them for
their concern and consider your actions. Make the appropriate
safety changes if possible and if not contact the caretaker
or a person on the board of directors in all instances.
3.2 Should you see someone violating any safety rules or otherwise
act unsafe, introduce yourself to them, inquire about their name
and discuss the issues at hand. If the unsafe activity continues,
notify the caretaker or a board member as soon as possible. If
you are a member in good standing you may ask the police to
intervene. Be sure that you get this person or persons' name or
names along with their license plate number.
3.3 Any serious injury which occurs on the range must be reported
to the caretaker or a board member immediately. Should there
not be anyone to report to please call a board member.
3.4 There is a first aid kit located in the club house should you need
one.
3.5 Never leave a loaded firearm unattended. All firearms not in use
shall be made safe by unloading them, removing the magazine
and leaving the action open. Remember there could be children
present.
3.6 Never swing a firearm so as the muzzle is pointing down the
firing line (where the shooters are standing). All shooters on any
bay should maintain the same firing line. In other words, no
shooter should establish his firing line in front of or behind the
other shooters. If someone does this, stop shooting and call
them back in line.
3.7 Never leave live or misfired ammunition on the range. Take it
home and discard it or put it in a misfired container provided for
you on the range. It does not go in the trash barrels.
3.8 It is critically important that you make every effort to keep all
fired bullets on Izaak Walton property. This is imperative to our
security, life, property and pursuit of happiness. Depending on
how shells are loaded and aimed, they can go on for miles.
Remember bad actions on your part could shut the range and/or
the club down forever.
3.9 Never fire a round in the air, at a bird in a tree or at an animal
on the berm. Never fire across the ranges or over the top of any
side berm. Shooting on the ground will not be allowed due to the
factor of bullets ricocheting and going off uncontrolled. It is your
responsibility to make sure that every shot goes into the berm.
3.10 Izaak Walton reserves the right to shut down the ranges for any
reason. This may be for safety issues, emergencies or
maintenance.
3.11 Observe all warning and instruction signs on the range. A copy of
these rules will be provided for you on the range.
3.12 Cleanliness must be maintained at all times while on the range.
This is for safety and presentation of the range to you and your
visitors. You are expected to pick up all targets, debris of any
kind and place it in a trash barrel. In the event you placed any
target stands or other shooting apparatus on the range you are
to put it up in its original storing place.
3.13 You are responsible for the conduct and safety of any guest you
bring to the range. Always be attentive to your children and
those of others. Do not allow them to wander into harm’s way or
annoy other members.
3.14 Hearing and EYE protection will be worn at all times while on the
shooting range.
3.15 No alcoholic beverages will be allowed at any time while on the
shooting range.
3.16 Safety is your main concern and you must monitor yourself and
others.
3.17 Your signature indicates that you have read and agreed to abide
by the rules.
