I serve on the editorial board for the Risk Management and Insurance Review (RMIR), one of the American Risk and Insurance Association's (ARIA) journals. The current editor is Annette Hoffman who is at the University of Cincinnati. Please consider submitting your work!
I've been a member of the Southern Risk and Insurance Association (SRIA) since 2012 and currently serve on the board. We have an annual meeting towards the end of November. It is a great, small meeting that is particularly good for doctoral students and junior professors. Please consider submitting and presenting your work (deadline typically sometime in August).
My department at FSU has started to host an annual Risk Management and Insurance Research Symposium sometime in January or February. The program consists of 8 to 10 research presentations on any topic in RMI. We also invite discussants for each paper to provide feedback for the authors. Please consider submitting your work (deadline typically sometime in September) or reaching out to me if you'd be interested in serving as a discussant.Â
My advisor, David Eckles, has been hosting a PhD symposium for doctoral students doing RMI research since 2017 (typically in January or February). Students get to present their dissertation in front of UGA faculty and invited faculty from other universities. There are also panels with general career advice. A great opportunity for PhD students in the later stages of their program.
I have been a member of the American Risk and Insurance Association (ARIA) since 2013. The organization hosts an annual meeting, typically in August. As an important institution in RMI as an academic discipline, I'm interested in ARIA history. Some things I find interesting:
