The Juuni Senshi (12 Warriors)
Bakumaru
The spirit of Mice is represented by Bakumaru. He is the leader of the Eto Rangers. He has the beam saber and Genmakyo mirror (reveals Jyarei monsters). He has a fear of cats and anything resembling one. Full of courage and resolve, but mischievous.
Horus
The spirit of Cows. He is slow and not easily excited. However, when he sees red he turns into Bull form and is very powerful while charging the enemy. In one episode he looks female but only because he has assumed the character's form. The others are amused.
Gaou
The spirit of Tigers. A noble, reliable spirit. He looks out for Bakumaru when needed. He turns into a large tiger when he puts on the Tora Tora Eye sunglasses. He has a soft spot for young girls in need of friendship or rescuing. Sentimental.
Cream
The spirit of Rabbits. Cute and a kind soul. She likes Bakumaru. Prone to unnecessary Pretty Change transformations (like a "magical girl" in other shows, with her carrot Disguising Stick). She can turn into an older, taller bunny girl. She has excellent hearing.
Drago
The spirit of Dragons. He is a bit of a loner, calm and quiet. He transforms into a large dragon by using his Adult Drop dragon ball (a baby dragon is inside). Flies on a cloud.
Nyorori
The spirit of Snakes. He is the knowledgeable one of the group, giving ideas about situations. He's the trickster magician and scholar type.
Pakaracchi
The spirit of Horses. He's always pumped up, competitive, very athletic, motivated, a positive thinker and sometimes foolishly optimistic. He has a Magnetic Boomerang weapon.
Souffle
The spirit of Lambs. She is proper and clean. A city girl. Sometimes she has trouble coping and gets upset when she gets messy. She has it within her to take charge, however. Her utility is a Magical Compact.
Monk
The spirit of Monkeys. He can be hard to get along with, and clashes with Pochiro. Full of himself. He's good at imitating voices with his little voice box. He's good at climbing around and can scratch. Fun-loving and silly. Has a Koda.
Tart
The spirit of Chickens. Helpful and strong-willed. She has a temper and can come off as boyish. She gets annoyed with Bakumaru and Pochiro easily. She can transform into a more human shape, and mostly remains that way. Makes use of Mechanical Chick Messengers.
Pochirou
The spirit of Dogs. He is a warrior type samurai dog. He has keen senses. Always competing and arguing with Monk. His dialect is old. He uses a Bone Stretching Stick.
Urii
The spirit of Wild Boars. The child who feels left out. Bakumaru is his hero and he believes in him no matter what. He fires energy beams from his chest jewel when he cries.
The Friends of the Juuni Senshi
Kirinda (Space-time Transmitting Machine Kirinda)
A large vehicle shaped like a mythical winged unicorn-like beast. It is the ship that conveys the Eto Rangers to the Novel Worlds. It is alive, and speaks to the Eto Rangers through a talking eye camera in the bridge, which speaks in Kansai dialect. It has living facilities for long trips. Aura Hime can send a visual broadcast to the view screen. It usually computes the best members for the mission and announces selection with roulette chairs. It waits outside the Novel World, ejecting the selected Eto Rangers inside bubbles into the world. Sometimes it can enter through a spell.
Aura Hime
Princess Aura is the protective ruler of Mugen. She serves the Great God Goal, and speaks for him. She is the mentor of the Eto Rangers. She can send out powerful beams of energy or diffuse light. Nyanma seems to have known her, and has something personally against her. Aura shows sadness toward her, even sympathy, which only infuriates Nyanma.
Goal
The Great God Goal is the protector of all Novel Worlds and represents everything positive in the human imagination. He usually speaks through Aura Hime but sometimes makes himself heard to the Eto Rangers directly in desperate times. He rules the Novel Worlds, ensuring a dominance of courage, love and creativity in the realm of human imagination.
Spirit of Recollections, a Lost Friend
Chocolat (Shokora)
A cat girl who once lived in Mugen but vanished mysteriously a few years ago. To her only real friend and mentor Gaou she could be sweet and loving but was a neglected outsider to the group in the days before they were the Eto Rangers. Picked on Bakumaru. She wanted to be important to Aura and Mugen, but as we can guess failed to become one of the Juunishi, then went missing. Gaou still sadly wonders what became of his little friend, and leaves a birthday present for her memory at her home every year since she disappeared.
The Villains (Jyarei Monsters)
Nyanma (Jyarei O-sama, Queen of Evil-Spirits)
A dark cat mistress who lives in a shell fortress beneath the sea under Mugen. The guiding hand behind the Jyarei monsters' attacks on the Novel Worlds. She cannot understand why her attack has not already destroyed the Novel Pole, and encounters the Eto Rangers for the first time while projecting her spirit into Mugen. She seems to know Aura, and wants vengeance for a past offense.
The Big Four: Rouran, Genen, Jyuken, Gousen
4 cat spirits summoned from the energy of Nyanma herself to serve her and attack the Novel Worlds. In a sense they are reflections of her inner self.
Rouran
A blue cat swordsman with powerful Dark Fire attacks.
Genen
A black cat lady who has frills and outlines resembling Kirinda's. She can pilot Black Kirinda or other mechas.
Jyuken
A mischievous red cat girl who is ambitious and wants to prove herself to Nyanma. There is a conflict within her when she sees the cold capriciousness of Nyanma toward her own servants, and the warm friendship and protective camaraderie of the Eto Rangers. She becomes more curious and questioning of Nyanma.
Gousen
A bulky white cat that can transform into a huge tiger. Protective of Genen.
Evil-Spirited Monsters (Jyarei Monsters)
These creatures created from negative human energy travel to Novel Worlds under the direction of Nyanma and possess characters from tales. They send out evil spirit energy that warps the tales. The Eto Rangers must drive them out to repair the Novel Worlds and save Mugen's Novel Pole from destruction and prevent the fall of Mugen into the sea.
Bagi (Jyarei Shin Bagi)
A mysterious evil spirit that looks like 2 glowing red eyes floating in darkness.
Black Kirinda
The evil version of Kirinda.
