The Espresso study...
A validated animal model will be used to study the pharmacokinetics of caffeine and its effects on neurological outcomes such as brain magnetic resonance imaging and behavioral tests.
Subsequently the efficacy and safety of caffeine will be assessed in a clinical trial in very preterm infants.
