Grant Application

The Erling B. & Dorothy E. Hanson Foundation was established in 2009. Per the benefactor’s request, the mission of the foundation is to “financially endow and/or to provide for the Performing Arts for the enjoyment of the people of Delaware County, Iowa without reservation of any kind or nature”.

The foundation is organized exclusively for charitable, religious, educational and scientific purposes, including, for such purposes, the making of distributions to organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

The Foundation budgets a yearly amount to grant to qualifying organizations, which must use these monies in accordance with the mission of the Foundation. Grant applications will be reviewed at least quarterly. The Board of Directors can vote to deny, partially fund, or fully fund grant applications based on available funds for that particular year.  Grant recipients accept the obligation to credit funding from the Hanson Foundation in all advertising, promotional materials, and printed programs, and with a public announcement at the start of any performance.

Should the event earn a profit, sharing of said profits will be negotiated between the Foundation and Event Sponsor at the time of acceptance of the grant by grantee. If the event is cancelled, the monies shall be returned to the Foundation. 

Payment of grant monies will be negotiated with Event Sponsor after approval of the grant.

1.     Name of the Event Sponsor, contact person’s name, address, email address and phone #.

2.     Date of Application.

3.     Brief Description of the Planned Event.

4.     Date of Planned Event.

5.     Target Audience

6.     Financial Breakdown of Event to include all estimated expenditures and income, including support people, ticket costs, advertising, lodging, equipment rental, estimated revenues, etc.

7.     Amount of support requested from the Hanson Foundation.

8.     If requesting partial funding, describe how the balance of funding will be obtained.

9.     Brief explanation of why this event fits the mission of the Hanson Foundation.
