Education:

I received my PhD in Mathematics from the University of Iowa in the summer of 2012 under the excellent guidance of Dr. Julianna Tymoczko.  I have been an assistant professor of mathematics at Florida Gulf Coast University since the fall of 2012, and I was recently informed I will be promoted to associate professor at the start of the fall 2017 term.

Research Interests:

My main research interests wander around the intersection of algebraic geometry, algebraic combinatorics, discrete mathematics, and graph theory. I love working with students on research projects. It my favorite part of my job! If you are interested in working with me, just ask.  You can also check out my research page for more information.

Teaching:

I am a firm believer in scholarly teaching, and I love my job because each new semester offers the opportunity to grow in my many roles as educator, friend, mentor, and student. I strive to incorporate innovative evidence-based pedagogical practices in my classroom, and am constantly reflecting on ways to improve my teaching.   My philosophy on learning is best summed up by a quote from Confucius:  "I hear, and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand."

My Purpose:

“I was born to coach and empower people in the active pursuit of their passions.”
