"Teach For Change"
My philosophy of education is “teach for change.” In my opinion, this means to teach students that we are all capable of positive change. Whether this is through academics and the arts, self-awareness, or even making a larger scale change in the world, students need to know that they are capable of becoming even better tomorrow than they were today. In my own education, I have seen the importance of having a teacher believe that students, teachers, and parents can work together to build a brighter future. If one of these parties is not willing to be flexible and positive, growth will be much less effective. I hope to be the kind of teacher that makes students and families feel as though we are a team that are reaching towards one goal: great success for all students.
In my classroom I believe students should feel self-worth and have the ability to express themselves. Respect and positive thinking are imperative in my classroom, as sometimes the classroom is the only place a student receives these experiences. I believe that through cooperative learning, a respectful environment, and setting positive goals, each student will see a change in themselves and the world around them.
