I am a San Antonio based music educator/performer specializing in percussion and trumpet. I am a graduate from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelor's degree in Music Education. I have been working in music education since April of 2014. My experience ranges from private lessons to large ensemble (marching and concert) instruction in various grade levels.
Erik is currently the Director of Bands at Robert C. Zamora Middle School, and assistant band/percussion director at South San High School in San Antonio, Texas. In Erik's first year as a head middle school band director, Zamora Middle school received a 2-2-1 in both the concert, and sight-reading rooms. Erik is the sole director at Zamora so his duties include: teaching all instruments, modeling on every instrument, and directing all bands.
Erik's personal experience with performing music includes thirteen years of various marching band experience which includes: front ensemble, snare, and tenor lines. He performed in the Revolution Drum and Bugle Corps. Winter Percussion Ensemble (marimba 1) and was named Front Ensemble Captain in 2007. Erik was also a member of UTSA's SOSA Marching band for two consecutive years (Snare 2, Marimba 1 - front ensemble captain). Erik participated in the UTSA orchestra for 3 consecutive semesters as the assistant principle percussionist and participated in the TMEA Orchestral Showcase in 2017.
Aside from music, Erik is an avid fisherman, BBQ'er, and family man. He is a full-time husband and father. "My daughters (Sophia, and Emilia) and wife, Jennifer are my world. I could not be where I am without the support of them."
