I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology in the School of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Rochester. I am interested in how the brain fuses different types of sensory information (vision, vestibular, and somatosensation) for perception of spatial orientation and movement. Of particular interest is how to effectively treat individuals who have experience dizziness or disorientation due to altered multisensory fusion. My past research projects involved characterization of gaze stability, balance and mobility during healthy aging and how those changes are associated with vestibular, proprioception, and visual function. I am also investigating how walking is influenced by tasks that require high visual acuity for healthy individuals and individuals with vestibular diseases.
As a physical therapist I specialize in treating individuals with balance and mobility impairments as well as individuals with vestibular disorders.
