About Us
Epsom and Ewell Model Railway Club was formed in 1952 and for nearly 70 years it has encouraged and continues to encourage a wide variety of modelling from large scale layouts to individual projects. We meet every Monday evening plus 12 Saturdays a year. We have model railway layouts in five main gauges:
O Gauge– 7mm to the foot (Test Track)
P4 - 4mm to the foot
OO Gauge– 4mm to the foot
N Gauge– 2mm to the foot
2mm Finescale
Many of our members model UK railways with layouts are based on both real and imagined places. The club has modellers that specialise in EM, Isle of Man 7mm narrow gauge, American and Australian narrow gauge. The club also has close ties with the Surrey Society of Model Engineers and their live steam outdoor track in Leatherhead.
There is also a small but growing junior section with their own layout.
We are an active club with up to 40 members meeting on a Monday night in a bright, recently built, hall that is supported by a large store building and modern kitchen. It is also important to note that the building has a level access and disabled toilets.
Our membership is drawn from a wide area- including not only Epsom, Ewell and adjoining boroughs but also, Guildford and Woking to the west; and Burgess Hill, Reigate and Dorking to the south.
The Club is a focal point where members come together and share common interests in railways and model railways. There are opportunities for operating or working on the layouts; or bringing an individual piece of work for discussion in a friendly and constructive atmosphere.
The club plays a role in the community of Epsom & Ewell with an annual exhibition at NESCOT — long regarded as a show of the highest quality — plus an annual open day at the church hall.
If you are still not sure? Just come along, talk to us, have a cup of tea, and enjoy a warm welcome.
