See below for various additional information on lecture materials and analysis method protocols, as well as other resources.
Supplements to lecture material:
- Temperature, Salinity and Density (T/S/D):
- Biological oceanography: Some random supplementary items
- A reference on Aragonite Saturation states from O2 and temperature:
- Juranek, L. W., R. A. Feely, W. T. Peterson, S. R. Alin, B. Hales, K. Lee, C. L. Sabine, and J. Peterson (2009), A novel method for determination of aragonite saturation state on the continental shelf of central Oregon using multi-parameter relationships with hydrographic data, Geophys. Res. Lett., 36, L24601.
- Two references on microplastics:
- The Oceanography of Barkley Sound
- Pawlowicz, R, Seasonal Cycles, Hypoxia, and Renewal in a Coastal Fjord (Barkley Sound, British Columbia), Atmosphere-Ocean 55 (405), 264-283 (2017). - this paper, written specifically to support EOSC 473/573 by describing all that is known about the physical oceanography of Barkley Sound, should be freely available from anywhere (tell RP if you have problems).
- Oceanography of the BC Coast: This is a useful reference book by R. Thomson (1981), now available online. There is not much on Barkley Sound itself, but plenty on the physical oceanographic processes important in this area.
