1. Discuss the two offered morals at the end of Perrault's Puss-in-boots. Do you think either apply? Do you think they are morals, life lessons, reflections on the time, or something else? How do they compare to Carter's last paragraph (and possible moral)?
2. Do you think the cat in either story by Perrault or Carter is the alter ego of his master? Or someone else?
3. Do you think Carter's version is a satire on male sexuality, targeted through the cat?
4. Why a cat? Why not a dog or some other animal?
5. Discuss religion in Carter's version. Do you think it is important? How so?
6. How does Carter's text treat the idea of self-love and/or sexuality/narcissism? Does Perrault work with narcissism in his earlier version?
7. How do both texts deal with social class?
