Group Information
CURRENT LINE-UP 2024/25 SEASON
Keith Bartlam - 2nd Tenor
Like many of the group I’m also a member of the Chippenham Male Voice Choir and am the latest addition to the group. I joined EOTT after watching them perform live in the Neeld Hall, Chippenham in early 2020. The band did a great performance and I was in my element singing along to many of the songs which I already knew. I approached Phil Hall, our MD, after the performance finished and asked for an audition. The rest is, as they say, ‘history’! I managed three rehearsals prior to lockdown 1!
I believe I’m renowned for two sayings: ‘love that song! And ‘love singing with you guys!’ What a fantastic way to spend your time, doing something you enjoy whilst raising funds for needy local charities!
Keith Clifford - 1st Bass & Rhythm Guitarist
I was introduced to male voice choir singing by fellow ‘Tracker’ Ron Dolman back in 1990, and settled into the baritone section. When ‘End Of The Track’ evolved many years later I jumped at the chance to sing hit songs from the 1960s. Being a teenager during that revolutionary period of music I enjoyed listened to Radio Caroline and Radio Luxembourg as well as watching a weekly ‘fix’ of TV shows like Juke Box Jury, Ready Steady Go and Top Of The Pops. Now I am able to perform those songs with a bunch of like-minded singers, and I am honored to be group’s chairman.
Ron Dolman - 2nd Bass
My mum and dad had good voices and were always singing. While on holiday in Weston-super-Mare, my dad and I made a recording on an aluminium disk, my favourite song at the time was 'When I grow Too Old To Dream'. I still have that disk.
At the age of seven, with my brother Tony we joined the local church choir. After a few years we left that choir and became members of St Pauls Church Choir. Because Tony was in the Wolf Cubs I insisted that I join. However, being two years and nine months younger I was told I had to wait until I was old enough. At 11 years old I became a Boy Scout and then a Senior Scout and then a Rover Scout. Years past and I became a Scout Master, I talked of the scouts because there was always lots of singing around the campfire.
While working as a cabinet maker we used to sing in our work most of the time.
A friend who was in the choir (Michael Dyson) introduced me to the Chippenham Male Voice Choir. As a side shoot 'End of the Track' was formed. The rest is history.
Phil Dyke - 1st Bass
I am also a member of the Chippenham Male Voice Choir and have been for nearly 30 years and sing in the baritone section. I am also currently Chairman of the CMVC.
I have been involved with End of The Track since its outset and thoroughly enjoy singing with them and performing at the many gigs that we do throughout the year. The special bit about it is that we donate all takings to charity.
Another highlight at many gigs is that after our performance we very often get tea and cake which makes the gig even more enjoyable.
It doesn’t get any better than that.
Brian Elliott - 2nd Bass
After a period of three years Brian rejoined the group at the end of 2023, and is busy getting back up to speed with the group's current repertoire.
Nick Greene - 2nd Tenor
Nick announced his retirement from the group in August 2024. We all thank him for his outstanding support for the group over the last 15 years - we will miss him.
Phil Hall - Musical Director, 2nd Tenor & Lead Guitarist
I've been given the title of Musical Director of this singing group, and my desire is to achieve the best sound possible. I have been playing the guitar and singing from my early teens when performing in a group of cubs and scouts. Since the start of the sixties, I have performed in a number of bands, and in my opinion consider the 60s era the best ever. It's a joy working with such a fine bunch of guys, all devoted to providing enjoyment to the audience, and loving every moment themselves. I too spent some time with the Chippenham Male Voice Choir, but the 60s music was always my preference and long may it last.
Nick Parsons - 2nd Tenor
I have come relatively late to singing, only taking it up as a hobby a few years ago when I was press-ganged into the Chippenham Male Voice Choir by several existing members who live in the same village as me. I’m pleased to say that I was really glad to have been persuaded to get involved in singing as it has been very rewarding. It was only a relatively short while after that I was encouraged to join EOTT which I’ve never regretted. I now get to sing great songs, in great company and help raise some much needed funds for a very worthy local charity. Long may it continue.
Chris Scott - 1st Tenor
I have always enjoyed singing and I like listening to and singing a wide range of music. In the 60’s in Belfast I formed a Folk Group and sang in various Youth Clubs etc.
I then joined Belfast Choral Union who sang madrigals, quite a change for me.
When I came to live in England in 1969, from then onwards I was always interested in pop music of various kinds but no formal groups. When I arrived in Chippenham, I was determined to sing and joined Chippenham Male Voice Choir. It was from joining them that I was invited to join End of the Track who I thoroughly enjoy singing with. As Keith Clifford would say we are happy singing together.
John Webb - 1st Bass
No information is available.
Roger Whitehouse - 1st Tenor
I don't have a musical background but you can't be a native of Huddersfield and not appreciate the musical heritage of brass bands and choral music, after all, we do have the world famous Huddersfield Choral Society! If you have ever wondered why male voice choirs consist of men of a certain age, it could be, as in my case, that we were all busy working, bringing up kids, something I'll get round to eventually etc. And then I met Ron Dolman at a concert in our church given by the Chippenham Male Voice Choir which coincided with me finding more time for myself and before I knew it Ron drew me in - CMVC`s chief recruiter! And what a revelation! Coupled with other momentous events in mine and Pat's lives we were suddenly elevated into a whole new way of life. I still have a sense of privilege every time we stand in front of an audience. It seemed like a natural progression to join End of the Track which then was just a social singing group attached to CMVC. Events inevitably progressed to where we are now, a respected singing group and fund raiser for children's charities. My personal thanks go to Keith and Phil for keeping us on the straight and narrow, Keith with his organisation skills and Phil for his natural musicality. And of course my fellow choristers both past and present (great to see new blood!)
