6. Journal

Journal or Log book

     Before you even start your experiment you should start a journal.  You may do your journal on the computer or handwrite it in a simple spiral notebook.  The key is your journal should include everything related to your science project listed by date.  In this sense it is very similar to a diary. You should list the preparations and supplies you've purchased or used, trips to the library, days you did internet research, experts you've contacted, as well as the actual experimental data and observations.  You may also want to end your journal with a summary paragraph.
