A native of southwest Idaho, Eric Marler began piano studies at the age of five. In 2004, he received the Bachelor of Music degree from Cedarville University, where he studied with John Mortensen, and in 2003 was awarded the Charles and Margaret Clevenger Piano Scholarship. Mr. Marler received the Master of Music degree in 2007 from Kent State University where he studied with Donna Lee, served as the class piano graduate assistant, and participated as an apprentice teacher in the Teaching Institute Program for children from the surrounding communities. Mr. Marler has performed in masterclasses for Mikhail Petukhov and Thomas Schumacher, was a prizewinner in the 2007 Tuesday Musical Association scholarship competition (Akron, OH), served as Affiliated Instructor of Piano at Northwest Nazarene University from 2008-2012, and is the author of The Musician's Reading Companion, a systematic note-reading workbook based on Immediate Visual Recognition™.
