The Stretham Tower Enhancement Project (STEP)
Learning to ring starts with 1-1 tuition and builds skills using a constantly updated teaching program designed to give you a great learning experience. The Stretham REC provides individual bell-handling sessions on a Saturday morning to get you started.
Ringing is a discovery journey and is very sociable
Ringing does not require strength or musical or mathematical aptitude
Ringing is not loud or dangerous
Ringing is not as simple as it looks
Ringing is a lifetime skill - you cannot lose it
Ringers are a worldwide community. Once you can ring, thousands of towers around the UK and the globe will welcome you in.
Ringing will take you to unusual places that most people never get to go to or see.
You will learn rope handling, listening skills, observing skills and even a bit of our special ringers secret language! It is something you can learn at almost any age - from 10 to 70. Once you have learnt you can have a group of people to join almost any night of the week. It exercises your joints, trims your tummy and challenges the brain. You do not need to be a church-goer, do not need to be competitive - you just need to want to learn.
For more information or to book a bell handling session, please contact the Administrator: Louise Webber strethamrec_at_elyda.org.uk or use the contact form .

An improvers 'Ringing Together' session also runs on a Saturday morning, after 1-2-1 sessions: please enquire via the Administrator or the contact form. We currently ask for a £4 donation per session.
