Eligibility for Elon Chapter Membership
Eligibility for membership in this chapter shall extend to all current and retired faculty members at Elon University who are national members of the American Association of University Professors, except for associate members. Types of national membership are listed below. Additional information about membership in AAUP national can be found at AAUP's national website. You may become a member of AAUP by clicking on the "Join/Renew" tab on that site.
Types of Membership in AAUP National (from AAUP's Constitution)
Active Members. Any person who holds a professional position of teacher or researcher or related professional appointment, excluding administrators but including any member of a bargaining unit ..
Graduate Student Members. Any person who is, or within the past five years has been, a graduate student may be admitted to graduate student membership. Graduate student members shall have all rights and privileges accorded to active members under this Constitution ..
Retired Members. An active member who retires may choose to be transferred to retired membership. Retired members retain all rights and privileges accorded to active members under this Constitution ..
Associate Members. Any person not eligible for one of the other three classes of membership may be admitted as an associate member, including members of the general public and persons serving as higher education administrators. Associate members may attend meetings by invitation of the chapter.
Dues
Dues for national membership are on a sliding scale. There are no dues for Elon's chapter.

After you join AAUP National, please inform one of our chapter's executive committee members so we can quickly add you to our chapter email list.
AAUP National informs our chapter of new members. However, notification may take several days or longer.
