I worked as an environmental/community activist and freelance grant writer for several years before returning to school to get my Masters of Science in Geography (2010).
My skill set includes the following:
Research and analysis (SWOT analysis; drill down problem solving)
Articulation of issues, problems, etc.
Development/Identification of ideas and solutions
Facilitation of team collaboration
Professional business plan and grant proposal writing
Presentation and connection to stakeholders and funders
I specialize in cultivating ideas and solutions, and doing the development work to get them off the ground. I am a life-long student and am continuously studying aspects of sustainable development. I also am an entrepreneur at heart and have many green business ideas. For over twenty years I have been working as a change-maker. I have a vision of small-town sustainable design and am eager to collaborate with others.
I am also an educator. From 2014 to 2016, I taught World Regional Geography at Midlands Technical College in Columbia, SC as an adjunct instructor. During the 2016/2017 school year, I worked as a teacher's aid and began coordinating a student green team at Durant Intermediate School in Durant, OK. In the Fall of 2017, I began teaching a Green School Elective class at Durant Intermediate School and Durant Middle School, which is on-going. I continue to coordinate the DIS Green Team and am also now the adviser for the Durant High School Green Team.
