Short Bio

Dr. Diop is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Thies. He obtained his PhD in Applied Mathematics from the University of Rennes 1 in 2009, and his MS in Applied Mathematics, Computer Vision and Machine Learning (MVA) from École Normale Supérieure Paris-Saclay in 2006. Before joining UT, he had several postdoctoral fellowships, within the Institut Mines-Telecom Atlantique and LaTIM (INSERM U 650), the Center of Mathematical Morphology of the Department of Mathematics and Systems at MINES ParisTech, and the VisionLab at CEA (Commissariat à l'Énergie Atomique). His research interests are on signal and image processing, and include dictionary learning, deep learning, PDEs and variational methods, scale-spaces, mathematical morphology, Empirical Mode Decomposition, AM-FM models and Teager-Kaiser operators.
