Dr Elena Konovalov, PhD BSocW

  • Presently engaged as Associate Lecturer - Management at Central Queensland University, Townsville Campus

  • Research interests include Tourism and Community Well-being, Sustainable Tourism Development, Indexes and Indicators of Social Progress, Student Success, Social Innovation and Social Marketing

  • Completed PhD at James Cook University in 2017. The PhD research investigated tourism impacts on social aspects of community well-being in Australian Tropical communities, and the full thesis can be downloaded here

  • During the PhD candidature (2011-2017) held various casual teaching and research positions within the College of Business, Law and Governance, JCU

    • Additionally, I took eight moths off (May-Dec 2012) to work as a Senior Research Officer (HEWL8) on a large international research project 'State of the Tropics', which focused on identifying current issues and opportunities in tropical communities

    • In the final stage of my PhD, which I completed part time, I was also engaged as a Student Support Officer for the Division of Tropical Health and Medicine, JCU and my main task was to provide support for first year undergraduate students in the Division
