CBT on the Couch

Supervision

I take individuals and groups for CBT supervision and have a current contract with University of Wales, Newport for the supervision of students on their CBT pathway. I have also supervised the training of Cognitive Behavioural Therapists for University of West of England specifically the training of these therapists in an IAPT service for the NHS.

My mode of supervision always depends on the needs of the supervisee. I have a clear understanding on the difference between exploratory supervision, clinical and case management supervision, education and a restorative place. My model of supervision predominantly influenced by the supervisee, the client setting and writer on supervision such as Beck, Milne, Padesky, Bennett-Levy, Inskip & Proctor and Robin Shohet. I am experienced in using the CTS-R (Roth & Pilling), listening to audio recordings, and creative supervision (stones, buttons, drawing etc).

I have supervised Counsellors and Cognitive Behavioural Therapists for the last 13 years. I have also been employed in a private capacity as a supervisor for Drug and Alcohol, Domestic Abuse and Bereavement organisations, as well as giving supervision to Nursing and Teaching staff.

I am an accredited supervisor with both the BACP and BABCP

I originally qualified as a supervisor in 2000 with a Post Graduate Certificate in Supervision from the University of Wales, Newport. In 2011 I trained with the University of Exeter with a specific focus on the supervision of High Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapists and the supervision of Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (Low Intensity).
