Biography

eiMAPs was founded in 2012 by a groups of parents who were concerned about preserving the arts in the EISD. Unfortunately at that time, there were many budget cuts due to the tax cap, and as a result the arts were reduced. Through funding from groups, like eiMAPs, eiABC (the Athletic Booster Club), and FTK, we were able to reinstate some of our programs. FTK generously funded the High School and Middle School Musicals! Additionally, the newly formed eiMAPs was able to bring back both the MS & HS Jazz Bands and the Photography Club.

The following year, eiMAPs, was able to donate two large moveable art display boards for use by the entire school district. We also began a tradition of supporting our Tri-M groups. For example, we supply cake, snacks and beverages at their Induction ceremonies to help make it a special day.

Finally, in 2015, eiMAPs established a scholarship fund!! eiMAPs was very excited to be able to give out scholarships to five graduating seniors from the class of 2015, totaling $2500. We look forward to continuing to give out scholarships to graduating seniors for many years to come.

Clothing Drive Success!!!

Essential Effort for eiMAPS

Thirteen dedicated East Islip students – Alex Agati, Emily Alexander, Katie Burke, Traci Byrnes, Nick Carney, Laura Coffin, Sarah Commisso, Beth Hillman, Emma Hillman, Sarah Hillman, Richie Hughes, Megan Lombardi and Jake MacMorris – volunteered to help at the annual clothing drive hosted by the East Islip Music and Arts Program Support group, also known as eiMAPS.

Music teacher Chris Neske assisted in coordinating the volunteers’ efforts at the Jan. 30 event, held at the district’s middle school. The needed garbage bags and zip ties for the project were donated by Home Depot. All proceeds from the drive will be used for programs and scholarships for district music and art students.

“Thanks to the support of the community, the clothing drive was a huge success,” said eiMAPS representative Linda Hillman.
