The Coaches 

Coach Winter

Tom Winter is in his 22st year coaching high school golf and has been at the helm of the Lady Cougar program since 2000. He previously served as the Founder and Head Boys' Coach at Santa Fe Christian School from 1996 to 2000 and helped with the boys' program at EHS from 2001-2003. He also teaches history at Escondido High School and serves as an advisor for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes club on campus.

Coach Womack

Brittany Womack, EHS Class of 2002, began her inaugural season with the Lady Cougar Golf program in 2018, serving as the Varsity Assistant Coach. She has also coached Softball and Baseball at EHS since 2011, and assists her husband in his role as the Head Wrestling Coach and teaches in the Math department.

Coach Meek

Jerid Meek, EHS Class of 1991, has been the Junior Varsity Coach since 2015, after 15 years as the Varsity Cross Country Coach. Additionally, he has served as the Varsity Track & Field Head Coach since 2001, and continues in this role in along with his teaching position in the Social Studies Department.

Coach Morrey

Shane Morrey was a Varsity Assistant for a decade from 2007 to 2016. He was invaluable to the success of the EHS Cougars during that time!  He currently oversees the Plus program at Escondido High School along with his Social Studies Department teaching duties. He has taught at EHS since 2002. 


Coach Baldwin

PJ Baldwin, EHS Class of 1988, coached the Lady Cougars Junior Varsity team from 2004 to 2010.  He's also the Boys' Varsity Basketball Coach and has taught at Escondido High School since 1998. He currently teaches in the Physical and Special Education Departments and was instrumental in helping develop underclassmen to excel at the varsity level. 

Coach Bridges

Heidi Bridges coached the Lady Cougars Junior Varsity squad from 2001 to 2004, in addition to her ongoing role as a gymnastics coach at the Escondido YMCA.


Coach Ruscetta

Nick Ruscetta, EHS Class of 1978, was the founder of the Lady Cougar program in the team's inaugural year of 1999.  Before coming to Escondido High School in 1995 to take the reins as the Head Football Coach and teach Physical Education teacher, he taught at Orange Glen High School from 1988 to 1994. In 2001 he transitioned from Escondido High School to Santa Fe Christian School and served as a football and golf coach from 2002-2012. He is seen as a genius for hiring Tom Winter to be the Varsity Defensive Line Coach at Escondido High School in 1995, thus starting coach Winter’s EHS teaching and coaching career. Thanks Coach!
