70th Birthday Party Celebration

Nearly 90 people from across the country and Canada gathered at the Grand Victoria Casino in Elgin on Saturday night September 9th for our 70th Birthday Party Reunion.  The noise level, especially when I had to make the announcements at 7 pm, was indicative of the fun people were having. Two of our former teachers from EHS attended; Robert Blewitt (Business Ed.) and Jim Wallace (Social Studies).  Highlights of the evening included the salute to former members of the branches of the armed forces, the group photo (attached) and Tim Palmer's "break dance" move on the dance floor.  Thank you to all the members of the committee that planned and prepared for the past twelve months for our seventh class reunion.  Thank you to all the members of the EHS Class of 1965 who participated in the party.  Truly the classmates are the stars of every reunion and the more stars that come out the more fun everyone has.Please keep our website updated of any changes in your contact information so that we may communicate any future events to you.

DETAILS FROM THE SEPTEMBER 9 2017 EVENT:

We will be enjoying an appetizer/cash bar/dance Birthday Bash at the Elgin Grand Victoria Riverboat Casino on SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 2017 from 6:30-1:00 AM. We’ve reserved a private party room for this gathering - The V-Club Lounge.

The 50th Reunion was also held at the GVC and it was a BLAST!!!  So the appetizers and desserts will be the same high quality as served two years ago.  But the V Club Lounge is unlike any other venue at which we have held a reunion.  The V Club has a large dance floor and bar.  Off to one side will be 6 circular tables with seating for 8 people at each.  Opposite the area with the tables is a large living room with comfortable sofas, stuffed chairs and a fire place.  Off the living room is access to a large deck with patio furniture overlooking the Fox River. 

The registration of just  $10 is thanks to a donation of $500 from Tim Palmer and a balance of over $800 from the 50th Reunion.  The actual cost is between $30 and  $40 per person.  For that incredibly low amount, your 70th Birthday Party Reunion features a DJ spinning your requests from 7pm till midnight.  And if classmates want to keep dancing after midnight, that can probably be arranged.  Appetizers, dessert (birthday cake) and cash bar will be available.  The V Club Lounge is a great venue with a dining area, bar, dance floor, living room with stuffed chairs and couches and a deck overlooking the Fox River.  Memorabilia from your years at EHS will be displayed along with a big screen monitor showing photos provided to Sally Griffin (elginclassof65@yahoo.com) of classmates with their favorite people, at their favorite places and/or doing their favorite activities.  The surviving teachers from EHS (Mr. Alft, Mr. Entwistle, and Mr.. Wallace) are invited to be our guests and they will want to hear about the important events of your life over the past 52 years.

The cost of the DJ is not included in the registration fee.  If you would like to make a donation to help
