Description: Short Term and Long Term Goals
Effective communication between home care, hospitals, and primary care is key to improving patients’ health. Based on this premise, my goal is to support and conduct research projects that enhance civic technology use to help individuals to stay engaged in their own care and strengthen the patient-clinician relationship.
I completed the research project "The Effect of Education on Portal Personal Health Record Use" in December 2015. The study results have interesting implications and I am currently disseminating the results. I have submitted a manuscript for publication to the HIMSS Online Journal of Nursing Informatics and submitted abstracts for podium presentation for the 2016 Summer Institute in Nursing Informatics (SINI) as well as the 2016 American Health Information Management Association Assembly on Education.
Research indicates that effective integration of technology into healthcare leads to better patient outcomes and has the potential to turn our fragmented health care system into seamless care processes. To achieve these goals , it is imperative that we support evidence-based health care practices and continue to translate new health informatics knowledge into practical applications. I will continue to support and conduct health informatics research to ensure that technology will be used in innovative ways to provide people with the care they need.
As a long term goal, I would like to use my expertise in nurse anesthesia, clinical informatics, and education to apply and advance knowledge to improve the well-being of people and will encourage policies that support technology to improve healthcare processes.
