Advocating for Meaningful Public Policy Changes
EERI's Public Policy and Advocacy Committee is currently developing position statements that will be used to advocate for meaningful policy changes to reduce earthquake risk in the United States. The one-day workshop will be held on Tuesday, December 15 2015 in Oakland, CA.
An invitational workshop with members from diverse disciplines, regions, and levels of experience will meet in December to agree upon national policies that EERI should promote. The EERI Board of Directors supports this effort, and will send several delegates to participate.
Volunteers are welcome to joint the committee planning the workshop or otherwise participate in helping shape EERI's policy agenda by contacting committee chair Laura Samant (laura.samant@gmail.com) or EERI program director Heidi Tremayne (heidi@eeri.org).
Directions to the Workshop
The workshop will be held at the City Center Conference Center, 500 12th Street, Suite 105, Oakland, CA 94607. The 12th Street/City Center BART station in downtown Oakland is located right next to City Center.
After disembarking from the train, exit the station via the 13th Street exit. This exit opens onto the City Center Lower Plaza. If you head up the stairs toward the center of the plaza and the colorful fountain sculpture -- 500 12th street will be on your left, next to Panda Express. Go through the doors, all the way down the hall, and suite 105 will be the last set of doors on the left.
