I am currently conducting research on four broad topics:

• Assessing factors influencing children's health and growth in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries
• Incorporating changes in family size and household income into historical measures of real wages
• Measuring the influence of early life exposure to disease on later health outcomes
  
• Testing the level of commercialization in the medieval English economy

These projects span chronological and geographical boundaries from medieval England to colonial North America to twentieth-century Argentina. See the research tab at left for more details.

Originally from Denver, Colorado, I received a bachelor's degree from the University of Puget Sound with a major in History and a minor in Biology. I then studied for an M Phil in Economic and Social History at St. Hilda's College, University of Oxford before moving to Nuffield College for my doctorate. In my spare time I enjoy travelling, cycling, hiking and backpacking, and singing in choirs.
