After sifting though a lot of information, much of which was incorrect or outdated, I have put all the info together that you will need to get your MX'er on the road (legally).
If you just want to make a short non-highway run down to the local riding park or trails on your MX'er, then the information on this site will get you there. If you want to do true "Dual Sporting" (like riding across town to work every day and hitting trails on the way home), you should purchase a purpose built dual sport like a TW200, Honda XR, Suzuki DR(Z), Kawasaki KLR, or one of the many others. I've ridden my CR250 on the road long enough to know that it would be a horrible commuter bike. Around the neighborhood or a quick ride to local trails, it's a BLAST.
