Merry Christmas from the SummerStays 2004
I found a job doing technical writing in February and worked there until August. We moved to Jersey City this fall (right across the river from Manhattan), and I am studying for a masters in computer graphics programming at NYU. Daniel turned 2 in October, and lately has really been enjoying solving his alphabet puzzle and humming tuneless little songs he makes up. This past week he was hospitalized
with croup, but he is slowly on the mend. Lesli is still in poor health, and misses trees as there are few in Jersey City. Lesli has a plan for the financial success of our family that involves winning the
New Jersey lottery repeatedly. :) -Douglas
Anecdotes about Daniel from this past year:
Aug 24: Daniel has started copying us more lately. He copied Lesli gesturing to ‘come here’ and thought it was really funny because he was telling his mom what to do!
Lesli
Lesli- ‘Sometimes Daniel’s really good at cleaning up, but he has to be in the mood.’
Kelli- ‘Well, he’s in the mood right now.’
Georgie- ‘Yeah he sure is, but IT’S NOT THE TIME FOR THE MOOD!’
(Georgie was 5 years old.)
Sept 13: A little girl (3 or 4) started saying, ‘Shh,” during the sacrament prayer at church. Daniel heard her so he copied her and said, ‘Shh,’ quietly. She heard him and told him to ‘Shh,’ and he copied her again (but much more quietly), so she told him to ‘Shh’ again. This went on for some time.
Douglas- ‘Because things go wrong all the time.’
