Wael Hosny Fouad Aly earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Western Ontario, Canada, in 2006. He is currently a Professor of Computer Engineering at the American University of the Middle East (AUM) in Kuwait, where he has been actively involved in both academic teaching and advanced research. His professional expertise spans a wide range of areas, with a particular emphasis on wireless communications, computer networks, and intelligent systems.
Dr. Aly is a registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the Province of Ontario, Canada, and a Senior Member of the IEEE, reflecting his sustained contributions to the engineering profession and the broader research community. Over the years, he has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed articles, published in prestigious journals, magazines, and international conference proceedings, covering topics such as wireless sensor networks, Internet of Things (IoT), mobile cloud computing, and cybersecurity.
In addition to his research and teaching roles, Dr. Aly plays a significant role in the editorial and organizational aspects of the academic community. He serves as an Associate Editor for multiple international journals and has acted as a Guest Editor for several special issues, collaborating with leading researchers worldwide. His leadership extends to the organization of major academic events; he has organized numerous IEEE-sponsored conferences and technical workshops, chaired sessions, and participated actively as a member of various Technical Program Committees (TPCs) for reputed journals and international conferences.
Dr. Aly's current research interests are centered on the design, deployment, and management of large-scale distributed systems and cloud computing infrastructures. His work aims to optimize these systems to meet a combination of complex objectives, including high performance, scalability, operational efficiency, economic sustainability, and environmental responsibility. Specifically, he is exploring new models and methodologies for enhancing cloud platforms to better support the demands of modern Internet-based services, particularly in the context of edge computing, energy-aware systems, and green ICT solutions.
