I am interested in landscape to regional-scale responses of ecosystems and vegetation to changing climate and to human disturbances and land management. Through my research as an ecologist focusing on plant ecology and ecohydrology, I seek to understand the spatial and temporal patterns in how ecosystems and plant species interact with and respond to changing environmental conditions. Responses of organisms and ecosystems to global change, especially at landscape and broader scales, are among the most pressing unknowns in ecology with fundamental consequences for life on earth. I use a combination of field surveys, manipulative experiments, species distribution modeling, and simulation modeling to address predictions from an array of concepts in ecosystems ecology.
