Outcome: My project was deemed fundable but did not get funded in the end. It was marked at 83.80% whilst the threshold for a MSC Fellowship was set at 70%. Research proposals that scored 85% or more, received a Seal of Excellence, which aims to help researchers in finding alternative funding for their project from regional, national or institutional sources.

Outcome: The Politics Department at Durham University (UK) selected me as their departmental candidate for an ESRC Postdoctoral Fellowship. The aim of the Fellowship was to consolidate my PhD through developing publications, networks, and research and professional skills. My application was shortlisted by the ESRC and made it through to the last round.

Outcome: My project ‘The soft power of non-Western small states: The cases of Bhutan and Qatar’ was deemed fundable. It was ranked first on the reserve list of fundable PhD projects in the Politics Department at Newcastle University.
